I can run ITV Hub on my Mac (High Sierra) and on my my iPhone and iPad but it will not run on Apple TV4 it has occasionally run but was sporadic and now it does not run at all sometimes I get the introductory logo and welcome but never any content.
ITV do not seem to be able to help so is it something fundamental to ATV4?

It would be an issue with the app, which is the developers responsibility to fix so you need to persist with them

I have this same problem. Been watching ITV hub on my ipad and iphone and imac for a long time with no problem.
Just bought a brand new apple tv 4 and I´m having the same problem with the ITV player. BBC etc all work fine.
The ITV app loads and I can choose channels but nothing loads, just the spinning gear wheel. Interestingly if I go to catch up programmes they will play, so it´s just the live programmes.
I contacted ITV support, and they said to reset the app and if that didn´t work to trash the app and reinstall. I have done all this but it still doesn´t work.
Have you had any success with yours since you posted in April?

Thanks I have persisted but the replies are so basic involving resetting the Apple TV, resetting the app, trashing and reinstalling the app etc all of which I have done, oddly it had worked in the past.
Works so perfectly on all the other devices too.

I emailed Channel 4 about the app for tvOS. Here is their reply:

We appreciate you taking the time to write to us with your enquiry and we're sorry to read of your disappointment in there being no All 4 app available on Apple TV. Whilst All 4 is not currently available via a dedicated Apple TV app, we are working on this and hope to be able to provide in the near future.

Ok! Wish ITV app developers would own up and admit it’s their problem rather than keep telling me to reset the Apple TV, reinstall the app etc!!!
I’m surprised more people don’t post on forums about problems with the itv hub on Apple TV.
Hope I’m not in a minority of people persisting in contacting itv support about the issue I have. Otherwise when will they fix it!!!
So frustrating when the app works so well on iOS .
You'd be surprised how often that happens. Sometimes you will see a lot of posts but not always and it's not like anyone here could do anything about it. It's best to encourage everyone you know to contact them as the more feedback they get the better chance of them actually looking into it.
I have similar issues, always have had. No problems with BBC iPlayer. Keep waiting for All4 to land on tvOS too.
Has anyone had any luck with ITV hub on Apple TV yet? I still cannot get live programmes to play and I have given up contacting ITV support.

Only they can fix the issue so either persist with them or wait for an update

It isn't something that you can fix, they need to find the issue on their end and if necessary push out an update.
Apple TV runs TVOS so it would be using a different version of the app compared to iPhone/iPad.
