Apple Watch boot freeze after 4.3 update

This week, I have updated my Apple Watch to WatchOs 4.3. Since then my watch won’t boot properly anymore. It is like it freezes at start-up, while the Apple logo is on screen. Even after an hour, the Apple logo is still on screen. Only through forced reboot (side button+digital crown) the Apple Watch is able to boot successfully. This happens everytime I boot the watch, so not just once or twice. Can someone help me out? Is this a known issue?

Hi MrNoizeKick,

I understand that your Apple Watch is taking a very long time to start up each time you turn on your watch. The only remedy you've found is to force it to restart, but the problem still persists when you power on your device normally the next time. I'd like to help you find a permanent solution for this issue.

I recommend that you unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone as a next step. This process will create a backup of your Apple Watch before erasing your device and allowing you to pair it with your iPhone once more. Follow the steps below to complete this process:
Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone - Apple Support

Once you're done, use these steps to set up your Apple Watch.
Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support
Try restoring from your backup first to test for the issue. If the problem persists, try unpairing your watch again using the previous steps, then set it up as new to see if the issue continues.
Cheers.

Hi MoonJ,

First of all, thank you very much for you clear explanation on how I could solve the issue. However, after trying both of the options you suggested, the problem still isn’t solved. The watch still freezes at start up.

Guess I will have to visit an Apple store. Only thing is that the watch is not under Apple Support anymore, since it’s older than one year now. Or do you possibly have other suggestions?

Anyway, thanks again for your support!

Hello, I have the same problem, AW Stainless Steel (0.Generation) after updating to 4.3, before everything works fine. My hope was after releasing iOS 11.3.1, but no update for watch. I try everything > charge battery only to 90%... charge morning... nothing helps. Sometimes is day, that my AW start normally, some days I need about 5 times hard reset and about 30 minutes to start it up. In Premium Reseller iStyle (Czech Republic) say me, that i have to unpair and reset, but that's not help. Another solve was give AW to diagnosis, but 20$ for saying me, that's SW problem, is useless. So now only solve is wait for update? I already write to Apple thought my developer account (bug reporter) but only answer was, that's my problem is duplicate of another and they cancelled my report.

Have exactly the same issue with my similar watch especially after updating to the latest software.

I also have the hanging issues like most of the commenters on this blog for my AW3 and that also came up after the most recent update to 4.3.

Clearly an issue with the software. I really cant boot my 0-generation stainless steel premium watch. Need an immediate solution from Apple as this is too annoying.
