Ipad video plays black screen with sound

I can’t honestly believe that apple don’t have one answer for this in the search of their knowledge base...

as the header says, the video plays without a picture. If i dont click cancel, it will only play (sound) as long as it takes to load the next video. If i click cancel the whole video plays (sound only)

I’ve checked settings but can’t see anything wrong there, and it doesn’t usually have a problem playing, this is a relatively new problem on ipad air 2 on latest safari.. can anyone advise me? Thanks

Thanks for your input - this problem related to Adblock+ and advertisers wanting their ads played - I did a refresh and load without content blockers (once) - and now Adblock+ is completely disabled by the news site that the videos are on - not sure how they've disabled adblock, but now videos play and so does ALL the advertising... grrrrr.

Empty caches etc doesn't appear to stop the ads - unless they've found a permanent workaround or Adblock+ have allowed ads - according to adblock+ 75% of people WANT ads - Yeah, sure they do. and they now have their 'allowing acceptable ads' initiative.

I see that you haven't gotten a response to your post just yet. If you could answer some questions, it might help others in the community find you a solution:

Does this happen with all videos, or only specific videos?
Does this happen with all apps, or only a specific app?
What is the currently installed iOS version number found under Settings > General > About > Version (example: 11.3)?
