How to add piano fingering to a score?

Hi, all,

I'm fairly new to Logic Pro X. I use it primarily for piano music.

What's the best way to add fingering text (1-5 numerals) to notes in the Score Editor, to indicate which finger(s) to use in complex passages?

Thanks in advance, you folks are great!

No problem..... So once you set your staff style to finger - the score is now ready and will accept key commands to set the finger numbering inside the note-head. You determine which number goes to which note.... you do this by selecting a note in the score then applying one of the key command below... On your system these are likely undefined so you need to set them up first... once you do.... then when you highlight a note and press the key command for ie....finger 4 - then the number 4 will show up inside your note... press finger 5 and 5 will show up inside your note.... etc etc....

OK, I'm a beginner, so I want to spell it out... to follow your suggestion to "use text for the finger numbers", I did the following:

1. Selected the piano track in my composition

2. Use keyboard shortcut Command-5 to open the Score Editor window

3. On the left hand side of the Score Editor window, select "Text: Fingerings", and also make sure that the Part Box is displaying text by clicking the "A" button:

4. Click/drag/drop the word "TEXT" from the part box, to the note I want, release, and then type the 1-5 fingering number that I want.

Final result looks like this:

Correct? Any suggestions for a different / better / faster way to do it?

Many thanks in advance,

Sorry, I'm confused.

Regarding the post which says:

"You can create a custom Staff Style with Note Heads set to Finger.

Then use the key commands to mark each note with a specific finger digit."

I was able to get to the point where I can open the Staff Style, and I can change the Note Head from "normal" to "finger". However, I can't seem to get the 1-5 numbers to show up inside the note heads?

Sorry, but I don't quite understand "Then use the key commands to mark each note with a specific finger digit", and I can't seem to locate the "Score Editor -> Clear main finger, Set main finger 1, Set main finger 2" etc menu?

In any event, I was hoping to see traditional piano sheet music fingering numbers, as in this image, not with numbers inside the note head:
