Why are my headphone buttons and mic not working for me?

Ok so My headphone buttons and mic are not working for my phone but they work for my sisters phone, another thing is that her headphone buttons and mic work on my phone. So my headphones buttons and mic work for her but not me, but her headphones mic and buttons work for both of us. Any help?
