AppleTV won't take my password!

My AppleTV stopped accepting my Apple ID password about a month ago. I have reset the password a couple times thinking that i entered it incorrectly or perhaps forgot it. My password is correct (verified both on iPhone and iPad), but Apple TV recognizes it. Therefore, no purchases or updates are happening . Please help!

Which model Apple TV?

If you have a model from before 4th generation and have two-factor authentication, then you would need to enter the extra code right after your password on the same line. Be aware that there is also a time limit.
