Windows | iTunes | Blank Gray Interface

Hello,

I keep running into an issue with iTunes. I'm on Windows (and I would be interested to know if this same issue is relevant on Apple's own MacOS) and when trying to load a page on iTunes, sometimes I get this. Usually it happens while browsing iTunes extensively (open different movie pages, TV, etc repeatedly).

The only way I've found fixes it, albeit temporarily, is restarting iTunes. And sometimes that is even finicky - to say the least.

When this happens, I'll close iTunes, then reopen it and everything loads fine... Till it happens again after continuous browsing.

As I said before, sometimes closing it causes problems, too. When I go to reopen it, sometimes it won't open. And to fix this, I have to go into the task manager and find the process and "End" it and then iTunes will either open on its own or I'll have to click the icon, again. This happened as recently as yesterday; I closed iTunes to fix the loading issue, tried to open it and it wouldn't open. Going into my task manager, I noticed that there were actually 2 iTunes processes going on... When I ended one, iTunes opened on my screen instantaneously.

Hello Vinyl_Is_King,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems you are having issues with iTunes on your Windows computer. To help with this issue, please follow steps from this Apple resource on iTunes issues, like starting iTunes in Safe Mode and testing in a new user account on your computer.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. When reinstalling right-click on the installer and use run as administrator. It may also help to temporarily disable any non-Microsoft anti-virus.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

When it comes to Apple, I'm always hearing that something may not work because "Apple doesn't support it," and it seems if you don't use Apple's given hardware you run into nothing but headaches with their software/products.

This really irritates me when I read it, "When you open iTunes in Safe Mode, you isolate the program from any interference caused by plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple."

I can watch any content on my PC, when it comes to YouTube, Netflix, TED.com, etc... Without a hitch, but when it comes to iTunes I usually run into at least 1 problem a day. I've spent quite a bit of money on iTunes (my own choice, of course) and yet I have a hard time viewing what I buy.
