Growl noise?

the past 2 or three days, my MacBook Air (13", brand new) keeps making this strange growling noise. It sounds like its coming from my speakers, and it has a bit of an echo to it. I have no idea where it could be coming from, I've tried closing all my applications and still makes the noise. any ideas???
