Apple Music keeps pausing on Apple Watch.

Only happens on music. Not Radio. Bluetooth device works fine when connected to phone but pauses on watch.

Hello adwilsonjd,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems you are experiencing issues with playing music on your Apple Watch, as it pauses unexpectedly. To help with this issue, try steps from these Apple resources, like restart your Apple Watch and iPhone, or remove the music and then sync the music to your Apple Watch again.

Hey all I know the frustration I too have hit this problem very recently just the other day However I seem to have to found a fix after fiddling around well at least it has worked for me and hopefully it’ll work for you too, ok so the issue seems to be from when you’ve synced music or your watch has automatically updated overnight while connected to your iPhone it seems to get stuck in some form of loop of not playing whilst LTE & or Bluetooth is active what you need to do is hold down the Digital Crown and side button at the same time until you see the Apple logo to hard reboot your watch (don’t worry it won’t delete any of your settings or data) but this seems to fix the issue, I hope this helps let me know many thanks, :)

Hopefully you shouldn’t have the issue again I’ve been using Apple Music on the watch for a long time and never faced this issue up until the other day i think it was just the watch just running into a temporary glitch loop, but doing just a hard reboot without having to reset the watch or anything easily seems to do the trick I think going forward all should be good :) *fingers crossed*

I am having the same problem and I thought it was solved after upgrading my watch OS. I have repaired and everything but still having the same problem with my bose soundsport wireless. I did the hard reboot and it seems to be working again. Hopefully this isn't a recurring issue. One of the main things I use my watch for is running and working out without my phone.

Thanks to the original poster as well as everyone’s input! I experienced the same issue of music randomly pausing as my new Apple Watch 4 was connected to my Powerbeats 3. I took the majority of the advice and did a hard reboot on my watch (press and hold the crown + side button until Apple logo reappears). Been testing for a short while and it seems to work, hopefully remains that way. If not, I’ll be back!

Restarting seems to only fix the issue for a short period of time. I have also wiped the watch and reset it up and the issue comes back. There are times when turning off bluetooth on the phone will alleviate the issue.

It does a seem like a core, no-brained use case ... playing music that is downloaded to your watch (like an iPod Nano). Unfortunate that software is so poor from Apple after paying a premium for their hardware.

Having the same issue. Since WatchOS 4.3 update my music keeps pausing on my watch. The playlist is stored locally on my Apple Watch but it seems like it will only play from local storage without pause if my watch is not connected to my phone or to LTE. I have tried removing and re-adding the playlist and resetting the entire watch already. Very frustrating that I pay for LTE service to not be able to use my watch in the gym, listen to music directly from the device without pause and be able to receive a call/text since this is why I bought it.

I'm having the same exact problem. Very frustrating. I purchased the Apple Watch to make life easier, but instead a couple days after purchasing I'm spending unnecessary time trying to figure why my music won't play on my Apple Watch. I am trying to play music from Apple music. Airpods work fine on iphone. Not sure what the deal is, but this needs to be fixed otherwise what's the point. Could be an Apple music deal which I then hope Spotify rolls out on Apple watch. Very disappointed.
