Upgrading iOS for iPad A1430 to iOS 10 or finding a place where I can download and install Kindle for iPad 6.1

I have an iPad A1430 and am trying to install Amazon's Kindle App on it. The App Store says i need iOS 10, but my iPad says it is up to date running 9.3.5. Amazon support says that I have to upgrade to iOS 10. Can I upgrade to iOS 10? If so, how? If not, how can I find and install Kindle for iPad 6.1, which does work for iOS 9.3.5?

While you cannot update to iOS 10 on that particular iPad, you should however be able to go to the App Store, and attempt to download the Kindle app even though it requires iOS 10. It should offer a compatible version to install on iOS 9.3.5 when you attempt to download it.

If you have a newer iDevice with newer iOS that is attached to your Apple ID and password, you could install recent app to that device, then go back to your iPad 3 and attempt to download the recent app and see if iOS throws up a pop-up message telling you and older, compatible version of the app is available for your device and would you like to download and install this now?

Then tap the OK button at the end of the prompt.

If f you have a computer already running an older version of iTunes (version 12.6.3 or earlier ), you can try downloading the recent app/s, by accessing the iOS App Store, through iTunes, using your Apple ID and passord, and then, download the recent version of the app/s you like to use on your iPad, to iTunes on your computer, first.

Then, back on your iPad, you can try to download the latest app from the iOS App Store and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. Would you like to download this version now.

Tap the OK button just below the prompt.

I would STOP using that 2-2-1/2 year old Safari web browser, as it is, probably, not safe and secure to use any longer, and seek out a third party web browser that is STILL currently being updated and STILL being supported on iOS 9.3.5.

Here are a few third party web browsers that I know are STILL being updated and supported on iOS 9.

Perfect Web browser

Dolphin Web browser

iCab Mobile Web browser

Aloha Web browser

Maven Web Browser

Opera Web browser

Maxthon Web browser

If its not directly offering the compatible version then yes, you may need to download it to iTunes on a computer or on a newer device that can run iOS 10 or later, and is using the same Apple ID as your iPad for the iTunes store, and then as Michel mentions download it from your purchased apps on the iPad and it should then offer the compatible version to you.

I just downloaded a compatible version of Kindle to a first gen iPad running iOS 5.1.1 so I know there are compatible versions there.

Make sure your iPad IS NOT connected to iTunes on your computer.

Then, back on your iPad, you can download the latest Kindle app from the iOS App Store and if the developer/s has/have left an older, compatible version of their app/s on Apple's app servers, then you will receive a small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device.. If you own a newer iDevice that uses your same Apple ID and password, on that newer iDevice running a newer iOS, you can download the recent Kindle app to that iDevice, then try, again, to download the Kindle app to your older iPad and see if you get the older app message this way to be able to download the older Kindle app to your older iPad.
