How to properly switch an iPhone's language back to English?

On April Fool's Day, I switched the language of my friend's iPhone to Chinese. Once the joke was over I switched it back to English, but now every time he tries to search something up at the home screen of his phone, it pops up in Chinese. How do I fix this?
