Unable to uninstall Sophos AV

There was a company client of Sophos running on my laptop. Lately, it started to block several websites including a wordpress website I designed! I've since been living in another country and thought maybe they made some change to their policies and decided to uninstall it and find something else. I used "uninstall" option along with removing desktop client. Nothing was working. Some items would not empty in trash saying it was running and cannot be removed. Such as History.db, History.db-shm, History.db-wal and quarantine.db, etc. I also went into ~Library and deleted sophos files and also Active directory, force quit on all sophos entries. Then I did a soft restart, deleted those files that were not deleting (it worked there) then restarted. When I came back, it is still blocking websites such as autobiographyoftheavatar.org. I already installed Avast free software, which would not install before saying Sophos was still running, but then now it worked. Please help me remove this Sophos! Thanks

My evaluation of the "Sophos" product concluded its uninstaller was effective. If its uninstaller does not work in your case, then restore your Mac's content from a Time Machine backup created prior to its installation.

Don't install "Avast" either. Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk.
