Question

Photos are stored on HD2 but still using 151GB of SSD

My system photo library is stored on HD2 (second internal HD) yet according to "about my mac" storage usage it is using 151GB of my SSD (start up disk), screenshots attached.

This has been a continuous problem through all OS upgrades and occurred prior to joining Beta program... any help much appreciated

Current set up;

macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.5 Beta (17F35e)

iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010)

Processor - 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory - 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Startup Disk - SSD

Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB

The "Storage" display is not very reliable. It can be off by many GB.

Have you checked the file size in the Finder?

How much storage is used for your Pictures folder or your user Home folder? Or when you select your system drive in the Finder and and use "File > Get Info"?

The Spotlight index may need updating to show the correct disk usage in About My Mac.

Did you restart the Mac after you moved the Photos Library?

Thanks for your response.

Checking info on SSD in finder shows 221 GB used also however using third party application Disk Map shows less than 110GB of SSD used.

Still confused 🤔

Forgot to mention Pictures folder shows less than 100MB on get info in Finder

I moved the Photo library about 12 months ago so the Mac has been on and off multiple times. The issue has become apparent now my SSD is getting close to full.
