Indeed. GPU was failing (ATI RADEON HD2600 pro 256MB).

After some time, I also notice some light pink vertical lines on the screen (from boot to safe mode). So, GPU indeed..

Despite the 10 years old machine... it runs smoothly... I'd really want to fix it..

So, I did the BAKE process (heat the GPU over 200C for 10min), and the iMac is running again!

Let's see how long this temporary fix lasts!

Just deleted the StartupItens.

Fonts OK.

But the same behavior. Safe mode only. :-(

Just noticed, during the last BOOT, while on the LOGO (and progress bar - Safe Mode), some abnormal vertical lines (very ligth, pink color) in the monitor...

The AHT PASSED all times.. Is there a way to CHECK the GPU? Or if SAFE MODE boots, the GPU should not be considered a issue?
