how do i get the spotlight icon in my menu bar?

I have a Mac Book Pro and need my Spotlight Icon in the menu bar it is there on my Mac Book Air and yes, i went to the preferences, thanks to guidance from others and got the volume button but could not find Spotlight, is why i ask. Please and thank you.
