How will I get my photos back!?

Back in March, I lost my iPhone. I had 17,000+ photos and videos. I recently purchased a new iPhone and logged into iCloud and unfortunately, I only have an underwhelming 1,265 photos and videos. I remember that my iCloud had not been updated in 50 days in March so is there any other way I could get ahold of my photos? I am desperate. These thousands and thousands of photos were so important and precious to me. I want to cry but I feel silly. Please help me. Thank you.

If you didn't back them up to your Camera Roll on iCloud, no. This method however does require the space to do this on iCloud.

Start considering having your phone do a nightly backup so this does not occur. If something happens, the worst case scenario is that you lose up to 24 hours of stuff.

Did you have extra iCloud storage? Was it enough for all your photos? Have u ever done backups to iTunes? Did you have them uploading to any other service like Google Photos, Dropbox, Flickr, etc?
