Flickering screen with Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter

So I am occurring flickering on my secondary display,

I use a Mac Pro with 2 of the same screens which one of them is hooked up to the Mac with a Mini DP to VGA adapter. ( The other one is connected with an Apple HDMI to DVI adapter but that one works fine )

I tried multiple VGA cables, a SMC and PRAM reset and also the firmware on the adapter is the latest version available ( v1,03)

My Graphics card is the Mac Edition Ati Radeon HD 5870 and I am running Mac OS 10.3.4 High Sierra.

What could be causing this problem? I'd really like to get it fixed because it is very uncomfortable for my eyes to look at the screen while everything is spacing.

Hope to hear soon 🙂

Greetings, Rick

Your Mac graphics card produces a direct VGA signal. It is hidden in the "extra" pins on the DVI-I Interface -- the bar at one end and the four pins round it, plus pin 8 on the top row of the grid (salmon-pink in this diagram).

I suggest you at least try that (the "extractor" should be cheap because its just wires, no electronics).

If that works out, a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI should get your other display working well.
