Apple Watch Not Providing Accurate Distance Measurements

I selected the ‘outdoor run’ setting measured a route. I repeated the same route* and the distance is now shorter. Is there a away I can recalibrate the watch?

*a week later (post iOS upgrade).

Thanks

So which measurement is correct? Has your watch learned some calibration for your steps during the time between runs and it is now more accurate? What is the true distance and difference in measured distance? Is this a significant % difference which can’t be accounted by something obvious like variations in your running pace?

Hi Branta_uk,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I’ve just rerun the route - this time I took an extra device (with Strava) and two strange things have happened:

1) both the Apple Watch and Strava clocked the distance as 5km - i.e. the original (correct) distance; and

2) the thumbnail map now appears* on the Apple health app - this had previously disappeared

So all looks good at the moment - will compare results on a longer run.

*this was a complaint in another post.

Thanks
