If it's a new model MacBook Pro, it has Thunderbolt 3, which uses the USB-C connector. You need a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter for the Thunderbolt display.

If it's an old McBook Pro that doesn't have Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 3, it can't use a Thunderbolt display.
If you computer does not have a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 3 port, you can't use a Thunderbolt display. There are no adapters, cables, or converters that will help.
MacBook Pros got Thunderbolt in 2011.
