How can I separate two iPhones sharing data but keep the same Apple ID?

My husband and I have an iPhone 8 and iPhone 6 both on iOS 11.3. We’re on the same Apple ID and want to share that but want separate contact lists, etc. Tried to create new Apple ID but just change it for both of us.

Shared Apple ID on two Iphones I created an Apple ID years ago (before family sharing was available) to be shared between two different Iphones (my own and my wife). Both Iphones as backed up in Icloud. After upgrading to IOS 15 we both get text messages belonging to the other phone (both have separate phone numbers). How can I stop this from happening? And is there a way of creating a separate Apple ID to be used for one of us and transferring the existing data from one of the Iphones to this new account, without loosing information? BR, Trond
