QuickTime and Chromecast

I am able to watch movies on my MacBook using QuickTime and have noticed that the Apple TV remote functions very well allowing me to play, pause, fast forward and single frame advance.

Is there any way to retain this functionality (ie with QuickTime or another Apple compatible video app) that is also Chromecast enabled?

I'm guessing no and my only hope is that there might be a newer version of QuickTime that is Chromecast aware but I suppose expecting 2 vendors to interoperate is unlikely

Are there other remote solutions that would allow chrome casting from a laptop with some remote control capability?
