Files with the fly extension aren’t video ones. If you mean flv, use VLC.

Sorry, yes FLV. Thanks. Yes, I have it working on VLC. How do I then clip a small section of the VLC video? Can I get it to run on Quicktime?
1. Try using the QuickTime Player to make a screen recording.
2. Only by installing QuickTime 7(this can be ignored if you’re on 10.6 through 10.8.5) and Perian.

Not sure what a fly video is. But VLC Player does play different types of media that QuickTime won’t.
