VPN and Airport Extreme (802.11n)

I am considering buying this new Airport, but I will need to set up a VPN between it and my work location. Can this device cope with doing that? The old Airport Extreme could not.

I managed to implement a workaround posted on this thread using the Nortel VPN Client for my company. The setup I have now is the AIrport Extreme in "Bridge Mode," it is also directly connected to my Linksys WIreless G Broadband Router (On the AEBS end the Ethernet Cable is connected to the WAN Port, and on the Linksys end its connected to one of the 4 available ports to connect devices). I was able to connect to my work using the Nortel VPN Client with no issues. I have also verfied that my USB devices connected to the AEBS (HP Printer and 500Gb LaCie HD) work with no problems. I have also been able to get apple tv to work without any issues. I hope Apple fixes this issue soon as I did not but the AEBS to use it as a bridge connected to my linksys G router!!!!ARGH!!!!

I have a MacBook Pro that i need VPN to connect to work. Parallels also is installed and it also needs to be connected to my work. My Cisco client (4.9.01) works just fine on the Mac side but will not connect on the windows side, though it did before i installed the mac N wireless. I also have access to a SSLVPN client that fucntions perfectly on the windows side

Changing the IP range the AirPort Extreme use to distribute IP addresses from the default 10.0.1.x range to the 192.168.1.X range completely solved my problem with VPN after trying most of the other solutions mentioned here.

I'm using the built in client in OS X (L2TP over IPSec) available in "Internet Connect".

All is well - but Apple needs to change this so it works with the default settings.

Why is Apple ignoring this issue? Do they read these
boards?

It seems like an easy fix if other router can do this
with no problem.

Apple is not ignoring this issue. Several posts have stated what Apple's response was when we opened a case with them.

They do not read these boards (officially).

There is no such thing as an easy fix when you are developing for millions of customers with infinite possible configurations.

I want a fix as much as the next guy, but I don't want a botched fix...

Interesting...this is my first time using the Apple Update/Download site.

Is it common for the "what it is" section to be so useless? I find it strange that it gives a product description and a link to learn more. If I'm on this site, I already own an Airport, so why would I want to see a marketing fluff piece?

What I would like to see is a list of bugs that were fixed...meaning, I'd love to see "FIXED - CERTAIN VPN CLIENTS NOT BEING ABLE TO CONNECT WITH REMOTE HOSTS" 🙂

Anyway, I'll install this tonight - hopefully someone will post some good news today.
