Question: Right Speaker Muffle

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

MaxOs High Sierra 10.13.4

The sound comes from the right side speaker. It's like muffle sound or blown speaker. I never go more than half on the volume, so there shouldn't be a reason for it to be blown. I've read other web foroum and lot of people are having the same issue. Is there a recall from apple regarding this?

I've reset the speakers also checked if the screw are tight. Everything is fine. I believe its the speaker blown.

Hey TC0,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I can see from your post that you're having issues with the sound on one side of your MacBook Pro. I don't blame you for reaching out for help with this, as having reliable sound quality is important to your MacBook experience, and I'm here to help. Just to be sure, when you say you reset the speakers, do you mean you reset the NVRAM as explained in the link below?

If so, then you'll want to get your MacBook Pro examined in person to properly address this. You can locate an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider in your area using this link. Find Locations

Dear Jeremy,

Thank you for you respond. Yes, I’ve tried resetting the NVRAM & it dint work. I’ve had been a apple user for a long time, but never had issue before. This was my 1st MacBook (switched from windows), and it was not good experience. My 6 year old laptop still going strong. How much does Apple charge to check & fix?

Dear Chris,

Thank you for the suggestion. As I’m traveling overseas & won’t be back in States till 31st of May, can I schedule something for the 31st? Can you give me an idea how much will apple charge to replace the speaker?
