Install Sierra on APFS volume?

Hi Guys,

I need SierraOS in order to run a Garmin application and load maps to an older GPS.

I have:

- created an APFS volume of 100 gb on my Mac (which is running on High Sierra)

- created a bootable USB and installed Sierra OS.

What happens:

- I am able to boot from USB and can start the installation progress on the APFS volume.

- 6 seconds before completion I get an error, saying that Ineed to try it again.

My questions:

A) Who has successfully installed SierraOS on a High Sierra APFS volume?

B) is así impossible what are my next steps?

Get a good USB thumb drive from SansDisk or external hard drive to install Sierra onto it for when you need access to your Garmin. Be mindful, you might not be able to see your APFS volume from Startup Disk, and instead will have to use the Startup Manager to boot back into High Sierra.

Use the Option key, when possible instead of 'C' key to boot discs

The App Store may complain about installing on too new a system. If that happens, get out a Mac running an older system than Sierra to install Sierra on the thumb drive or hard drive.

In the future always keep clone backups of previous systems until you are certain all your Apps are compatible with the latest system you have installed. Sierra is available in your "Purchased history" of your App Store account.
