I want to remove 'Google Membership Rewards' malware from my ipad

I browse local newspaper sites on a daily basis and recently, at very random times, I have been getting a popup asking if I would like to complete a survey. When closing the popup box it redirects to a web site (URL is: https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com- win-a-free-gift-from-walmart-amazon-ipho…). I understand from searching that this is a malware program designed to generate money if it is followed through but obviously no free gifts!

Can anybody help with advice on how to remove this malware?

The iPad in use is a 2017 9.7" iPad operating on the latest operating system (11.3) and I am not in the habit of downloading strange software or visiting 'strange' sites.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)
