iPhone will not charge in a Lexus

The USB ports and the 120V cigarette lighter port worked once and not do not work on our 2010 Toyota Venza or the new Lexus 2018 NX . This must be an Apple issue since the charger works on any non apple device. None of the suggestions listed affect the outcome more than temporarily.

Most car USB ports only provide 0.5 amps, which is not sufficient to charge an iPhone. They need 1 amp. You can use a cigarette lighter USB adapter, but it must supply at least 1 amp, and it must be certified as Made for iPhone, or must at least be "smart" enough to tell the phone what it's capabilities are. Older "dumb" adapters won't work, and can actually damage the phone.
