IPod emergency call

Okay, so. My friends tried to guess my password, and when they did it enough times my iPod got disabled. When I did this my iPod showed at the bottom of the screen "Emergency" before I clicked on this, I made sure I turned my WiFi off. So when I clicked it it showed the phone call pad and I was confused. How can an IPod access emergency calls?

I don't know the iPhone's passcode I bought an iphone on ebay. When i turn it on, has a number lock on it.
