FileVault: Power Down machine during encryption ?

Yesterday, I enabled FileVault, and the encryption of the hard disk is now in progress (I continue using the Mac, as the Alert Box said I could).

Judging by the progress bar, it's going to take another 2 days or so until the whole disk is encrypted.

Normally, I don't keep my machine running that long. Can I just shut down the Mac over night, and encryption will continue once I switch it back on?

Cheers.

You can. Also note the following from Use FileVault to encrypt the startup disk on your Mac - Apple Support

Encryption occurs in the background as you use your Mac, and only while your Mac is awake and plugged in to AC power. You can check progress in the FileVault section of Security & Privacy preferences. Any new files that you create are automatically encrypted as they are saved to your startup disk.
