Can i download music onto my ipod shuffle (3rd gen) using my library from my Apple Music subscription?

I have only recently found my old iPod Shuffle from my birthday in 2011, at that time I was only 9 and didn’t have an Apple ID, all of the music is dated but I haven’t bought anything from iTunes on my current Apple ID but have an Apple Music subscription, could I Possibly sync my music library from my Apple Music (not iTunes) onto my iPod Shuffle or would I need to buy music from iTunes?
