Unwanted replay of YouTube videos

A recent annoyance has popped up. YouTube videos replay themselves when they shouldn't. When I play a YouTube video to the end the video will restart from the beginning when clicking another tab in Safari. Is this a YouTube issue or a Safari issue?

The other browsers have no issues like this - so, it seems like a Safari problem. It might be a good idea to install the operating system from scratch and reload all data manually (documents, media, etc.). I have another issue where Time Machine doesn't have the ability to backup passwords (serious pain). Maybe installing everything from scratch would fix both issues - and possibly any other weirdness lurking. Not that my system behaves funky or is slow or anything like that. All else seems fine.
