Subtitles in ALL CAPS in iMovie

I'm using iMovie 10.1.9, trying to add subtitles to a short clip of a very distinguished world leader who expressly recorded the video for me. He speaks English with an accent and I thought it would be useful for the viewer to be able to read what he was saying as well as hear it. It's very important that the video look professional. But apparently the only way to do with is with a subtitle that has an "effect." I'm currently using Soft Bar, but the constant fading in and out of the bar is distracting.

Obviously, the best choice is Lower Third, but that is only available in ALL CAPPS, WHICH IN TODAY'S WORLD IS GENERALLY INTERPRETED AS CONSTANTLY SHOUTING. I want to be able to represent this leader in the most effective way possible, and I DON'T THINK SHOUTING IS THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT. I've read a fair amount in the comments and community help and apparently there is no easy way to make subtitles for a film that don't either have an effect that is distracting or shout.

The suggestion of writing the text in text editor and pasting it in didn't work for me. Various other work arounds have also failed. I'm very disappointed.

At one time Apple was a company that was concerned with style.

Hi,

Re the caps issue, you can use the "Lower" title with the Courier New bold font. That will eliminate the caps if you can live with the fade.

Re the fading issue, unfortunately the animated iMovie titles don't allow the fading to be eliminated. There have been multi-step workarounds proposed, such as mine in this thead:

subtitles again!

. . . and by quiniverer in this thread, as well as others:

Remove fade-ins and fade-outs from titles in iMovie '13?

As I said, these are multi-step workarounds and may not be very practical for your purposes.

Another multi-step workaround is to use the Scrolling Credits title, that does not have a fade or caps problem. Create it over a green background. Delete all the template titles, such as name, description, and then type in your subtitle. Use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll your subtitle to the desired place at the bottom of the clip. Then take a screen shot of the green title clip from the preview screen. Import the green screen shot back into your project and overlay it onto your video clip using the green-screen function of iMovie. That definitely does work if you have the time and patience to do it throughout your movie.

The only other thing I can think of is to Google for a subtitle app that you can use. I believe that one of the posters in the above threads had mentioned an app called Subler (sp?).
