Replacement 3TB Time Capsule?
With the news that Apple will be phasing out their Time Capsules/Extremes, does anyone have any suggestions for replacement of a 3TB Time Capsule? Currently used as a WiFi extender and wireless Time Machine.

What model is your TC?
Is it causing issues/faulty?
Long term you probably need to rethink backups.
There is nothing out there that neatly fits the space the TC will leave behind.
Short term just keep the TC running if possible. As it ages.. you can often use another router brand and just plug the TC into it with ethernet for Time Machine.
I have one old Gen4 TC which I upgraded the power supply on and use with 5TB hard disk.. I suspect it will work for a long time to come as a simple network backup target.. at least until Apple drop AFP protocol. This is a DIYer solution of course not mainstream.
We already have a few posts now asking this sort of question.
Will Time machine backups, wireless and hard wired, be supported on 3rd party routers?
What is the make & model of the wireless router that you are currently extending with your Time Capsule? Is the connection between them wired or wireless?
The Apple device is 'Ethernet connected' to the 6 month old Telstra NBN white box. (of course, they put the details underneath the box).
Difficult. Telstra provide a discount to employees, of which there is one here. Not to worry. Thanks for your advice.
Ah.. you are on the inside then.. and the Dominate Overlords should be able to help a loyal employee discover your VOIP details.
BTW it is still a heap of junk modem even if you work for them.
I am in Melbourne.. so if you need details you can talk to me directly. (or via whirlpool forum in Australia).
I presume your white Telstra box is Sagemcom 5355 .. They have several white boxes often one plugged into another. What NBN type do you have?
It helps to know all the details because it is sometimes possible to completely replace the RSP supplied router.. and sometimes NOT. One factor is VOIP service from Telstra is locked to their junky boxes and the details are not released to the unwashed masses.
Sometimes the best solution is a better RSP. Mixing routers with some Telstra controlled units is a pain in the rear.
