Could not create a Preboot Volume for APFS install
This is a fix for the 2009 MacBook when you get the error message that says "Could not create a Preboot Volume for APFS install".
- MacOS Utilities should be on the screen.
- Click Disk Utility.
- Click Macintosh HD.
- Click Erase (At the Top) and Delete your Macintosh HD.
- Partition out a new Memory and Name it Macintosh HD. Click the drop down of ARPS and Change it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
- Click Apply.
- Once the partition is loaded, exit out of disk utilities
- Then restart the MacBook or power off and on.
- Once reset, go back to disk utility and click on Macintosh.
- Click First Aid. (This is test clean to make sure everything is okay.)
- Once everything is finished with First Aid, exit out of disk utilities and click Update button.
This should make the MacBook do the update for High Sierra. This is just what I used to fix mine. If not please contact me on this form. I want to help all MacBook users.
