While looking through PhotoBooth app there was a feature to set backgrounds and
another article associated with this suggested these images with set background
could be used in FaceTime. So you supply your face and separate background.
Then save to recycle in another application. Somehow. (.."save face".. LOL)
Maybe not useful as online user FaceTime in place of a Live Face on camera.

However I've not tried this; because seldom use any of these in real time and/or with
Messages. As iMessage hands off to Mac Messages, your face also answers Phone.

And I'm a little more than camera shy. Getting over that upon realization stores have
watchful cameras & recording devices. So one cannot run amok anonymously. (?)
Sorry to not be of much help. My iPad Mini 16GB has an older iOS 9.3.5 and only
mistakenly received a call in FaceTime once. ~ Image quality from built-in camera
was at best scary on the other side. Newer hardware may allow software features.
