My MacBook Pro is freezing and restarting

Hi everyone.

I'm just wondering where to start with this - my Late 2015 15" Retina MBP (High Sierra) has just started randomly freezing every couple of hours or so, showing high fan activity, then restarting.

When it comes back up, it doesn't offer any error messages or log files.

It doesn't seem app-specific - it can happen when I'm browsing in Chrome, or working in Creative Cloud. I've got plenty of HDD space (It's an SSD). I've run the disk repair utility, and reinstalled the OS, but it's still the same.

Where do I start troubleshooting this? Thanks for your time!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

Hi artyfewnote,

have you already tried to reset the System Management Controller on your Mac? How to How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

  1. Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
  2. After your Mac shuts down, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds.
If you have a MacBook Pro with Touch ID, the Touch ID button is also the power button.
  3. Release all keys.
  4. Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.

Hope I could help you.

Cheers
