GarageBand '11 would be a Mac version. The current version of GarageBand on the iPad is GarageBand 2.3.3. Perhaps you have been looking for the wrong version. GarageBand on the iPad is very different from GarageBand on a Mac, and many things that will work on a Mac are not available on the iPad. On the other hand, playing smart instruments is more for fun on the iPad.
