I bought an iwatch series 3 last year. It paired with my iPhone 5S no probs. I accidentally smashed the watch and got a new one last month. Now the new one wont pair with my 5S. Some posts say you can pair with a 5S, as I did, but others say I need at least a 6.
What has changed please and how do i pair with the 5S?

There are two versions of the Series 3 watch - one with GPS service only, and one with GPS + Cellular.
The GPS-only watch will pair with an iPhone 5s, but the GPS+Cellular watch requires an iPhone 6 or later.
Did you replace your watch with a GPS+Cellular version? If so, that's likely to be your problem.

I found an older article from before the series 3 was released - that mentions needing an iPhone 6 or later.

I am really sure it’s a Series 3 GPS + LTE with a red dot on the winder and it’s exactly the same watch that paired with my iPhone 5S last year.
It can only be the updates since 11.1.2 that have excluded it.
When I paired it last year there were articles that said than minimum requirements were a 5S and others a 6.
Anyway; just remembered it was set up in an Apple store by their salesperson!! I would not have spent 419quid on it if it didn’t work.
Maybe I should go back.
Exactly the same watch. It was an insurance claim so it had to be identical ie Series 3 with cellular.
Could it be the updates since have excluded the 5S?
As far as I know the compatibility has not changed since Series 3 was released. Are you sure the original watch was GPS+LTE? If you still have it around check the markings on the back cover.
