How do you Block “unknown” callers on the I phone

If the land line companies allow md to block callers who have blocked Thee I’d why not my I phone. I know the technology is there so I must think there is some economic reason speceill not for this. Is i suspect solicitors are influencing this

Your landline company controls their network. You could not program your landline phone to block unknown callers; you had to ask your landline provider to. Likewise, your iPhone does not control your cellular providers network. So you have to ask your cellular provider to block calls, or at least ask if the can or will. Your phone actually cannot block any calls; all it can do is send them to voicemail, which is not a true block.

Solicitors have nothing to do with it. Today solicitors do not call with caller ID blocked; instead they use a false caller ID. Most calls with blocked caller IDs are legitimate calls; for example, your doctor returning your call from a personal phone whose number is unlisted. The phone spammers use faked caller IDs that look like a phone in your area code and exchange (NPA-NXX for the aficionados).

What it could do is irrelevant. iOS as currently deployed does not have a capability to block numbers with no Caller ID. Discussing it in this user-to-user forum where Apple does not participate is pointless. The right place for your request is https://apple.com/feedback. We as users don't know why Apple has not implemented the ability to send unknown callers to voicemail; I'm sure it is not because they can't. So presumably they have a good reason, even we don't know what it is.

And, if you read my post again, your phone has no ability to actually block any number. All it can do is send the call from a number you want blocked to voicemail. True blocking must be done before the call is routed to your phone, which means only the carrier can block calls. Some carriers offer this capability, usually for a monthly fee.

No, I don't think Apple is not monitoring and watching what is said on this site. I KNOW that Apple is not monitoring and watching what is said on this site. Once you have helped enough people to reach level 6 you get access to a private forum area where you can interact with other helpful people, but also with the Hosts (moderators) in charge. And also to have face-to-face meetups with them in various cities around the world. The only job of the Apple employees involved in running the forum is maintaining order and assuring that the ToU are observed. Their primary tool for this is a "report" button available to any user who has helped enough others (and have them mark a response as Helpful or Solved) to get to level 2. The Report button alerts a host that a post may need editing or removal, but the decision is up to the host. They may also scan posts and threads, but only for the purpose of maintaining order. They don't provide any input to any other department at Apple based on what is posted.
