iPhone X GPS accuracy is off more than 40 feet

Good morning...I have been having issues with my iPhone X's accuracy when it come to using GPS apps. When outdoors the location will bounce all around me even though I am standing still for a few minutes. The iPhone has the latest update, I have reset the phone several times, reset the location services, deleted and reinstalled the apps, and more. Connecting to WIFI does not help either. Using a handheld GPS in comparison shows the iPhone X being off from 40-100 feet at times.

So far nothing has helped out in the least. Could this be a hardware issue or is it software based? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

iPhone X, iOS 11.3.1

You need to check this in a wide open area without obstruction to a clear view of the sky. Your description sounds like multipath interference, where the GPS signals sometimes come direct from the satellite and sometimes by bouncing off nearby buildings and other structures. This can change from minute to minute as the satellites move overhead, and it changes the timing and distance the signal has to travel which completely messes up calculation of the GPS fix.

Edit: Adding... Please also consider that 40ft is close to the 10m minimum CEP radius I expect for an instantaneous fix (one fix snapshot) from non-differential GPS. On some occasions it may be significantly worse depending on satellite geometry and radio noise interference, and it can be improved for a static receiver by averaging over a period of time.

Yes, I did that reset. It's pretty annoying. It doesn't work 100%. But at least I can drive with my iPhone as navigation. I've been an iPhone user since the original and this feels so Android that I have to compromise on something so important for no reason. I hope this gets fixed soon. Support just told me that I had to do that or restore. I cannot describe my frustration really.
