Boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and try to run First Aid on the drive. If you're able to do that then try a normal reboot.
If the normal reboot fails boot again into the Recovery volume and reinstall the system.

Did you just update your OS? My last OS update took forever to show the apple logo and the usual Installation progress bar- around 10 minutes or so.
So I am having issues wth my computer starting up, all i get is a grey blank screen after color distortion
