I want to install or uninstall apps on my mom's Iphone because she is not so tech savvy and doesn't want to spend a long time on searching in appstore etc. Today, I want to install a new video sharing app on her phone but I cant do it remotely even though I can login to her icloud account. When she was using an android phone doing things like this was quite easy

iCloud personal accounts have nothing to do with the iTunes, App, iBook or Apple store fronts. Those are independents cloud based store fronts, not associated with Apple’s personal use iCloud service.
And iOS is not Android - iOS does not allow remote management or manipulation of devices like that.
On your device, you can choose to “share” the App Store link for the app you want. Email that link and then when she gets the email, she just needs to click on the link. On her iOS device, it will ask to open in the App Store. When the App Store launches, she can just purchase/download the app to her device.
You can't do that. It would be a serious security issue if it were possible.
