I am simply trying to share a file between my wife and myself on the same iMac. Why is it so impossible? I am hopping between the 2 sign-ins. I have set up file sharing through preferences. This should be extremely simple. Maybe one click. Right now it looks like I may have to move the file around to a drop box which isn't easy either? Am I missing something? There is no way that Microsoft 365 is this far ahead of the game...

Go to Finder menu > Preferences > General and choose to put your hard disk on the Desktop. Then click on it and go to Users/Shared. You can drag your hard drive to your Sidebar if you want to keep it there. Then you can remove it from the Desktop in Preferences.

Use your Shared folder in Macintosh HD/Users/Shared. Put the file in the Shared folder and your wife will be able to access it from her account.
No, you need to click on Mac HD then go to Users to find it.
After that you can drag it to your Finder's sidebar to keep it accessible.

I don't have a shared folder appearing on the right side of the Finder.
Now this is sounding familiar but, unbelievably, I don't even have the option for my hard drive on the finder. The highest level I can get to is my username.
