Formatting External Hard Drive Fail

I purchased a 8TB Seagate External hard drive and it's formatted for Windows at the moment.

I went into Disk Utility to format it for Max OS Extended and I keep getting an error.

"MediaKit reports not enough space on device for requested operation".

It's a brand new drive totally empty.
