Is there a simple Mac OS draw app?

Is there a simple OS draw -- or better yet paint/draw app -- that uses established Mac protocols? It is amazing that we seem to have come so far that there is nothing that delivers the simple intuitive functionality of the original MacPaint and MacDraw. I hope I am wrong.

After searching, I tried EazyDraw and found the steep learning curve too painful to continue. I'd rather use a pencil and paper. By "steep learning curve" I mean that mean that decades-long Mac protocols did not deliver the desired outcomes, but rather mounting frustration.

Because of High Sierra security concerns, I am holding on to OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan.

I found a reliable and very well supported app resident on my computer that has been around quite a while meets my needs - Graphic Converter from Lemke software. While it is really a very capable photo editing app, it uses the Mac protocols and has a simple toolbox that allowed me to do simple drawings. Graphic converter is also adept at converting file types. They offer a test of their software that is very generous. While I originally purchased my copy years ago, I have upgraded as necessary to keep it viable. Good thing. It delivered my solution.
