How do I insert an equation in a footnote in Pages

I want to insert an equation (in MathML) in a footnote, but while the rest of the text in the footnote is OK, the equation gets deleted.

Any help?

The Pages 7.0 equation editor is only supported within the document body text. Pages 7.0 lacks the ability to parse, and image TeX/LaTeX/MathML equations that are free form in any part of the document. You cannot drag/drop a PDF of the equation into the footnote area at the bottom of the page either.

LibreOffice Writer 6.0.3 will allow you to insert an equation into a footnote. Tested.
