Nike Apple watch won't finish pairing with iPhone 6s

My watch, My phone (not activated or locked on anyones account 🙂 )

I had them paired last year

Screen cracked on the Nike Series 2 42 MM watch, after touch screen wouldn't work.

I deleted it off my iCloud/itunes, tried to reset it all in hopes to make the screen work or see if I could just set it up and not have to touch the screen (control from phone). No success, lol

Finally replaced the display (Apple display).

Tried to pair it today.

Paired with phone, asks me to update, click to update then get activation error.

Activation Error

Activation request could not be completed. Press

the home button to try again. If the problem persists,

please contact customer care.

iPhone is current, no updates needed, iPhone 6s was paired last year with this same watch.

Contacted Apple who just wanted to send me to the genius bar which I don't feel like driving an hour to get there for them to tell me its too old to fix, lol.

Any advice? Thanks

Make sure the software in your iPhone is upgraded to iOS 11.3.1 and try the watch again.

Was the screen replacement performed by Apple or a service center authorized by Apple? You may have a claim for failed repair if the failure follows directly after the repair. Alternatively they should have a record of testing after repair.

Finally, Apple has a mail-in repair option if you dont have a convenient Apple Store. Contact Apple Support

My phone is already updated, was before I tried to pair.

I replaced the screen, there is nothing wrong with that or hardware, none was damaged during repair.

Apple has no clue as to what is wrong so I'm not going to ship it to them for them to tell me the same thing.

This is a common issue right now that no one has an answer for, Sadly I'm not the only one experiencing this exact same issue 😟
