Hi Dramirez15,

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like you do not hear anything from your headphones if you are using an adapter. Since you have already replaced the adapter, and the port works to charge the iPhone, it may be an issue with the headphones.

Hey Dramirez15,

Thanks for the update. If you have also tried a different cable and you still hear no music playing, it may be a setting instead. The iPhone has a volume level for when the iPhone is ringing and one for the Headphones. If the ringer volume is up, the volume level while headphones are plugged in could be at a different level. If it is not a volume level issue, when you say won't play, is it doing something else?

I thought I was the headphones but I also used and aux cable to listen to music in my car and doesn’t work as well

I checked volume levels they look fine. When I pug in the headphones or aux cable I starts playing it on the phone . On phone speakers

Everyone, I just figured out exactly why this occurs. I have an iPhone X and was struggling with the same issue until I tampered with some specific settings. My phone would charge, detect that earpods were connected, yet did not produce any sound. The fix is so simple:

Go to Settings > Music > (Under Subheader 'Playback') > Volume Limit > Move the volume slider all the way to the right.

Essentially your maximum volume was at nothing, resulting in no sound being played through earphones/headphones through the adapter.
