Who said you need to do either on of those.
It's completely optional.
Apple Music is a streaming subscription. You pay monthly to stream all the music Apple has available. You can also download them to listen offline. Because it is a subscription, you don't own the songs... even if you download them.
If you stop paying the monthly subscription bill, you lose access to the songs.
iTunes store is where you purchase music. You pay for each song/album you want. You download them and they are yours to keep.

Who says you need to pay for Apple Music?
You can totally ignore it if you don't want to pay for it.
Apple Music is a subscription service, which means you can "subscribe" to it if you want to. You do not have to.
If you are using the Apple Music App on Android the forum this was in originally before it was moved just now, it only gives you access to the Apple Music subscription service. Nothing else.
If you are not using the Apple Music App on Android then your questions does not belong there. It would be better to post in a more appropriate forum, and provide as much detail as possible about what you are doing.
Your purchased songs should still be in the same place they have always been. The iTunes Library on a Mac or PC, or in the Music App on an iOS device under Library.
*Edited to reflect the forum change*
Because with Apple Music you won't have to buy the songs to play them.
As I said, the Apple Music App on Android only shows music from the Apple Music subscription service. It does not show purchased songs or music from the iTunes store or your iTunes Library. It never has.
If you have been using Android, then you should have been using the default Music app on Android or some other App and have copied your library over to it. Not Apple's music App. If the music disappeared from there, then you would need to copy it onto the App again. It has nothing to do with Apple Music.
Then you say iTunes doesn't show your recent purchases, and but they appear on your Samsung. Where do they appear on your Samsung?
If you are buying music from the Google Play store, then that music has no relation to iTunes. How it shows up on your Samsung has nothing to do with Apple, and it won't automatically appear in iTunes on your computer.
If you are buying songs from iTunes, they should appear in iTunes, but won't automatically appear on your Android device. You need to copy them to it manually. As there is no direct connection from the iTunes Store to an Android device.
I understand apple subscription, but now I've cancelled it, I'm unable to retrieve any of my songs that I have purcased over the last 6-7 years?! It only gives me the option of rejoining subscription, and when I do, voila, all my playlists and songs are back! I dont want subscription as im happy to pay as and when for a song. I've spent hundreds over the years, therefore I payed for them so I own them. How do I get them back?! Please help, my music is my only release :(
Thanks
I am using on my android and have been since April 2017 and had no trouble until now. Also my itunes is showing none of my recent purchases! They appear in my Samsung music tho un named or titled!
