8500S ram vs 12800S ram in 2009 macbook pro

Id like to know if 12800S ram ddr3 2rx8 will fit into a 2.26GHz macbook pro from 2009 which currently has 4gb 8500S 2rx16 ram in it.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), MacBook Pro, Mid 2009, 4gb Memory

No, they will not work in your computer. Always use RAM with specs that match those of the computer.

There are many, many sad stories here from Users who tried to install RAM with faster spec in their MacBook Pro.


In MacBook Pro models, faster than spec RAM is Flaky. It almost works, but can crash a couple of times a day. It will drive you nuts.


Just a Kappy says, you MUST use the exact correct speed.


You CAN takes some liberties with mismatched sizes, if finances are tight. The slowdown in RAM speed is imperceptible.
